Austropop is a popular term for pop music that originated in Austria in the late 1960s. Pop music with Austrian lyrics is commonly referred to as Austropop. But Austropop is not limited to a specific genre of music or language today; Due to its multicultural nature, it ranges from hip-hop to alternative rock, the latter often being blended with some components of Austrian folk music. Amongst the best-known Austropop stars: Falco, Wolfgang Ambros, Georg Danzer, Rainhard Fendrich and DJ Ötzi.
